GopherCon Europe

Privacy Policy

Introduction

Tick Tech Talks UG ("we", "our", "us") is committed to protecting and respecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your personal data when you use our website, purchase tickets, register as an attendee, or sign up for the newsletter.

Website

We do not collect or process any personal data directly on our website. We do not use cookies, and we do not display any advertisements. Embedded YouTube players and the newsletter sign-up box are loaded from YouTube and Substack and are subject to their privacy policies.

Ticket purchases

When you purchase tickets, you are redirected to Stripe, a third-party payment processor. Stripe handles all payment transactions and processes your personal data, including payment and billing information, and issues the invoice on our behalf. We do not store or process your payment details on our servers. We receive the billing details and the email address from Stripe for invoicing, bookkeeping and attendee communication. Invoices are retained for the statutory period under German commercial and tax law. Stripe's privacy policy: stripe.com/en-de/privacy.

Attendee registration

After purchasing a ticket, every attendee completes a registration form hosted on Google Forms. It asks for name, employer, work location, the days you attend, badge details, food and accessibility needs, and some general professional background. Name, employer and food and accessibility needs are used to run the event. Professional background answers are used only in anonymised, aggregated statistics.

GopherCon Europe 2027 is supported by the Kongressfonds of the Investitionsbank Berlin. As a condition of that support we report, for each attendee and each day: name, employer, work location and whether they attended. We share nothing else from the form and no contact details with the funder.

Google's privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy.

Newsletter

If you sign up for our newsletter, Substack, a third-party platform, processes your email address for the purpose of sending you our newsletters. We do not store your newsletter subscription on our servers. Substack's privacy policy: substack.com/privacy.

Email

Emails sent to us are stored on Gmail, a service provided by Google, including replies to ticket and registration emails.

Call for papers

Talk submissions are handled on Sessionize. Accepted speakers receive a Google Form to confirm participation, sent as a message over the Sessionize platform. Sessionize's privacy policy: sessionize.com/privacy-policy.

Photos and video

We photograph and film the event and publish the material, including talk recordings on YouTube. Tell us at the registration desk or by email if you prefer not to appear in photos.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectify and erase your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to data portability, each within the limits of the law. To exercise these rights or for any concern about your data, contact us at team+privacy@gophercon.eu. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, in our case the Berliner Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit.
